There is an area near Bukavu where there are many orphaned children. The villagers have taken it upon themselves to provide care for the children but they cannot pay the school fees for the orphans. So far Hope for Orphans-Congo has been able to pay for 27 of these children to be able to go to school. There are still 70 children who need their school fees provided. These children have great faith in the charity and we don't want to let them down. Please give $10 a month for one of these orphans to go to school. Without an education there is very little hope for a bright future.
The students of the school performed a skit for us. The mother and father were asleep when robbers came and killed them. The children wept when they found their father dead. We were very saddened by this skit which is their reality. In the final scene, a neighbour told the children not to weep because there was a charity called Hope for Orphans-Congo which would help them! We are so sad for all the children who have lost their parents but we are happy to stand in the gap and help them at the very least with school fees. Besides their regular classes, the children also have access to a wood working class and sewing class. (The treadle sewing machines have no treadle which means that for each stitch the wheel on the side has to be turned.)
